LEXUS IS PERFORMANCE

LEXUS IS PERFORMANCE

EXHILARATING DRIVE

As a driver you instantly connect with the IS. The sound of the engine, direct steering controls and Drive Mode Select all combine to produce performance that has won the hearts of drivers since its very first release in 1999.

IS 300: RESPONSE PLUS RESPONSIBILITY

IS 300: RESPONSE PLUS RESPONSIBILITY

In the IS 300 model, the 2.0 litre 180kW turbo charged engine walks the tightrope between response and responsibility.

The turbo forces additional air into the cylinders for greater combustion while a direct injection system injects fuel into the cylinder after the air has been compressed.

Adjustments to the camshaft timing allows the engine to alter its 'breathing' pattern between the conventional Otto cycle for performance, to the more efficient Atkinson cycle to further improve economy.

The IS 300 also features an engine Stop & Start system which can minimise fuel waste by stopping the engine when at a standstill.

IS 300h: POWER THAT SURPRISES

IS 300h: POWER THAT SURPRISES

There are many misconceptions about hybrid technology but explore a little further and you will discover that Lexus has long been a leader in this field and that 'hybrid' does not mean 'lack of power'.

Indeed a combined power output of 164kW is the result of an advanced 2.5 litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine working together with a high output 650 volt electric motor, so the acceleration response is quite simply electrifying.

While enjoying exhilarating performance, you can relax in the knowledge the IS 300h offers pleasure with less guilt consuming a mere 4.9L/100km1 and emitting just 113g/km of CO2 emissions17.

IS 350: PERFORMANCE THAT EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS

IS 350: PERFORMANCE THAT EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS

The IS 350 redefines performance with the excitement of a quad-cam, 24 valve, 3.5 litre V6 with Dual Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (Dual VVT-i) and a breathtaking 233kW of power.

Advanced D4-S direct and port fuel injection injects fuel into the ports and directly into the cylinders for greater power while Dual VVT-i constantly retunes the quad-cams, unlocking maximum power when you need it and maximum fuel economy when you don't.

A Sound Amplifying Engine Resonator enhances the performance experience of the IS 350 and the end result is a vehicle that exceeds all expectations.

EIGHT-SPEED SPORTS DIRECT SHIFT TRANSMISSION

EIGHT-SPEED SPORTS DIRECT SHIFT TRANSMISSION

In the IS 300 and IS 350, Lexus engineers have taken a racetrack-proven 8-speed transmission with close-ratio gears so you'll enjoy silky smooth acceleration.

For added control on hills, the Artificial Intelligence shift control utilises a G-sensor to intelligently pre-select the correct gear for ideal gear-braking and faster response.

Shift into sequential mode and the transmission performs like a manual, putting you entirely in control. Each manual downshift can occur in as little as 0.2 of a second, ensuring smoother, faster downshifts.

SEVERAL DYNAMIC VEHICLES IN ONE

SEVERAL DYNAMIC VEHICLES IN ONE

The IS is a vehicle with a number of different personalities depending on the driving conditions and your mood.

In ECO mode, the powertrain and Climate Control are optimised for maximum economy.

In NORMAL mode, you'll experience smooth and crisp acceleration, Climate Control is reset for maximum comfort and vehicle response is refined.

Set your heart racing by turning the dial to SPORT mode for a more direct throttle and steering response while the instrumentation display changes to reflect heightened excitement.

REMARKABLE LEXUS HYBRID DRIVE

REMARKABLE LEXUS HYBRID DRIVE

Significant research and development have been undertaken in the creation of the technologically advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive for performance that must be experienced to fully understand its capabilities.

As you start off in the IS 300h and touch the throttle, electricity provides the initial power during light acceleration.

As speeds increase, the petrol engine kicks in so both power sources work together for added acceleration. At cruising speeds, the petrol engine is the main power source and once you release the accelerator or apply the brakes, regenerative braking recharges the battery.

But when you hit the throttle you'll discover they haven't hidden its effects.

F SPORT & SPORTS LUXURY

INTELLIGENTLY RESPONSIVE

INTELLIGENTLY RESPONSIVE

The advanced technology found in the IS delivers a high level of control in a diverse range of driving conditions.

In the IS 350 F Sport, this control extends to Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS), which adjusts the steering gear ratio for increased precision and stability at higher speeds and while cornering.

It also intelligently facilitates slow speed manoeuvres with fewer turns of the steering wheel, for example when performing a U-turn.

VGRS offers the driver a greater connection with the vehicle and the road.
This feature is also found in the IS 350 Sports Luxury.

ADAPT TO CHANGING CONDITIONS

ADAPT TO CHANGING CONDITIONS

Both F Sport and Sports Luxury models feature Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and Drive Mode Select with CUSTOMISE and SPORT+ drive mode which adjust the performance of the vehicle during different driving conditions.

AVS continually monitors and adjusts the shock absorber settings, as driving and road conditions dictate.

Rougher roads are tamed as the AVS computer-controlled shock absorbers soften for maximum comfort.

However, it's during more spirited motoring that the AVS system shows its true mettle. With the Drive Mode Select in SPORT+ mode, in addition to standard SPORT drive mode characteristics, the AVS delivers the suspension response appropriate for a fully-fledged sports sedan. So you'll enjoy a firmer ride and reduced body roll for greater stability at higher speeds and corners.

F Sport grades also feature high friction front brake pads and sports suspension settings to suit high energy driving.
